Best Moisturizer For Oily Skin

Best Oily Skin Moisturizer

I guess you haven't found the best moisturizer for oily skin or you wouldn't be here reading this page, right?

Well, the problem could be that too many face moisturizers - and even cleansers - designed for an oily complexion don't really offer enough hydration or can clog pores or cause breakouts.........

It's definitely harder to find a good moisturizer if you suffer with an oily complexion or have breakouts and blackheads.

But, that's no reason to stop using moisturizers, you need to keep your skin hydrated if you want it to look smooth, healthy and supple. This is especially important for all you guys and girls out there who are over 30.

Why You Need Face Moisturizers

I learned an interesting and - might I say - cheap lesson from my dermatologist. I thought about maybe getting Botox for the little crinkly lines under my eyes/tops of my cheeks that only showed up when I smiled - it really bothered me.

However, after looking at my complexion she told me I didn't need Botox, I need a better moisturizer!

She said after a certain age, our skin looses the ability to hold moisture and as a results the skin will look more crinkly, wrinkled and drier. She said regardless of complexion type (oil, dry, or in-between) we all need to moisturize after a certain age.

Wow, was she right. I started applying a good a oil free hydrating cream everyday all over my face and neck and it has made a big difference. That's why I think it's important that we hydrate. And that goes for the men too. I got my husband using a moisturizer daily.

What Is Oily Skin?

Ok, am I going to bore you with a detailed explanation on what causes some of us to have an excess oily complexion? Well, just in case some of you don't know......here is the quick and dirty run down.

The dermis (yes, were getting technical here) has sebaceous glands that are attached to the hair follicles. When the glands secrete sebum it travels up the hair follicle and spreads out onto the upper layer of the dermis.

This is a good thing because it helps keep it moist and healthy. But for some people, too much sebum is produced and it causes the hair follicle to get blocked -- so the oils can’t get out and spread out.

This often results in clogged pores, blackheads, bacteria and eventually inflammation. AND, this may explain why some people with an excess oily complexion complain of dry, flaky skin too. If the oils are blocked and can spread out evenly to properly hydrate - then yes, your complexion will get dry.

What's worse, all those little tiny flakes (which are dead cells) are now sitting in and on top of your pores........further causing more clogging and even breakouts.

This why why even excess oily types need a good moisturizer. If you suffer from the dry, flaky problems, you need to exfoliate it well also. Very important!! You need to get all of the "gunk" out of the pores and off the surface so your creams will get absorbed better and will work better too.

This intense facial only needs to be done a few weeks on and few weeks off for a clearer, smoother, less blotchy complexion. Just make sure to follow up with the best moisturizer for oily skin after each facial.

Oily Skin Tips and Best Moisturzer For Oily Skin

Here are some other simple anti-oily tips you can follow - in addition to using the best moisturizer for oily skin:

Excessive Sun – We all know that too much sun causes wrinkles, skin aging, and increase chances of skin cancer. However, whether it’s outside UV rays or from a tanning bed – too much UV exposure also causes enlarged pores and broken capillaries.

Hot Water - You should never wash your face with hot tap water. The combination of how water and the chlorine found in tap water can damage the skin. The hotter the water, the higher rate of chemical reactions from the chlorine -- which is an oxidative agent used to kill bacteria. This combination may cause more skin damage than most people realize.

Harsh Cleansers - Many cleansers are really ionic detergents that contain lauryl sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate. These are powerful detergents damage and dry the skin.

Over Cleansing - Many people tend to wash their face often causing skin sensitivity and irritation. You should wash your face in the morning and evening – unless you’ve been exercising, then wash your face again after exercise or sweating.

Harsh skin care products - Many cleansers, makeup, moisturizers designed for oily skin contain really ionic detergents- like lauryl sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate and agents used to dry out the skin. These strong additives can damage the skin.

What Is Best Moisturizer For Oily Skin?
