You advice on sizes and how many times to roll totally contradicts the advice given on own docs derma roller site. Its a bit worrying to get many different opinions.
Hi,
In follow up to your question about how to use the derma roller - there are two ways to use it. One for aggressive treatments and one for more gentle treatments. Click here:
Scientia Derma Roller FAQ and scroll down until you see the video. Click on the video to see exact instructions on using it both ways.
The basic directions that I follow and recommend are from the Scientia Derma Roller company for general use, not aggressive.
And, keep in mind the directions may vary slightly depending on what you're using the roller for (hair loss, scars, wrinkles, stretch marks, cellulite), what size using, and your individual skin type.
We recommend 0.5mm for light acne scarring, mild chicken pox scars or ice pick scars, or simply regular anti ageing treatments.
A 1.0mm roller is more suitable for deep acne scarring, surgery scars, ice pick or chicken pox scars, and 1.5mm Derma Rollers are for very deep scarring.
A Derma Roller 1.5mm is the maximum we would recommend for use on the face (unless as part of a professional treatment), but your body is less sensitive to treatment, so you should decide which would best suit your needs.
However, before I started using my Scientia derma roller I contacted Lisa - a representative at the Scientia company - to ask more questions.
I told her I had deep creases around the crows feet area and my skin is not too sensitive. She told me that for deeper wrinkle treatment for people over 50 years old - the 1.0mm is best.
So I started off with a 0.5mm roller and then moved up the 1.0mm some time later. This gave my skin a chance to get stronger and healthier without too much discomfort.
When I asked how often to use it she told me start at a minimum of once a week and see how my skin reacts...then I can increase up to 5 times a week if rolling lightly....Always remember to decrease if my skin becomes irritated.
So, there are a lot of variations in the directions depending on your skin type and how it reacts.

Derma Roller Results Maintenance by: Anonymous
Hello,
I roll between 3-5 times per week. You can use either 0.5mm or 1.0 mm size roller, if you're over 50 years old.
After 6 months or so, when it's time to replace the roller (the needles do wear out after some time) most people can move up to the 1.5mm size roller and increase to rolling up to 5 times per week.
This is best maintenance level for most people and they can stay at this level forever.
The 2.0mm size roller is usually for professional use. So if you looking to reduce general wrinkles and maintain strong healthy, younger skin....the 0.5mm or 1.0mm @ 5 times per week is good.
Hope this helps. Linda
How many months do you roll 3,4,5,6? Is there maintenance every year? How many times per week would you roll with a 1.0 mm? How many times per week would you roll with a 1.5 mm? How many times per week or month would roll with a 2.0 or larger.
Can you still get results without using creams?

Just ordered the derma roller!!!!! by: Anonymous
Thanks Linda. I just ordered the derma roller from your site and I'll keep you posted on how I like it.
How long do you thing it will take before I see results? I've a got a high school reunion coming up this spring. I would love to look better ! LOL --------------- Hey Bobbie,
That's great. Yes, please keep me posted. I love to hear the results. It will probably take around 4-6 months to see a significant difference.......at least that is how long it took me.
The derma roller people offer a 6 month guarantee return policy. That's how confident they are that you'll love the results, but it could take up to 6 months.
Take before and after pictures. I wish I did...:-)
