Home Remedies For Dry Skin

"These home remedies for dry skin has really saved me lots of money and my skin doesn’t itchy anymore!" Linda C

Home remedies for dry skin have been around forever and some are pretty effective. Here I’ll list a few easy to use and safe dry skin remedies. While a treatment for dry skin is not necessarily a cure for dry skin, many people found relief from extremely dry skin conditions using one or all of the home remedies outlined on this site.

# 1 Home Remedies For Dry Skin

One of the most important home remedies for dry skin is to stop using SOAP! It doesn’t matter if you have normal, dry, or oily skin – nobody should ever use soap on their face. All facial cleansers should be pH balanced. This means that your Facial Cleanser Cream should have a pH that measures around 7 which is neutral.

The pH measures the how acidic or alkaline your cleanser is. Normal healthy skin is usually in the range of 4.2 to 5.6 and a good facial cleanser cream should also be within this range. At this level, the acid mantle (the skin surface) is in good condition and is able to protect the skin from dehydration and other damaging elements of the environment like wind, sun or bacteria. A pH below 7 is considered more acidic and above 7 is more alkaline.

# 2 Home Remedies For Dry Skin - Oils

One of the best things you can do to cure dry skin is to massage emu oil into the skin. Emu oil has been around for thousands of year and has been used by the Aborigines. They had to brave the harsh sun of Australia and knew that not only can emu oil moisturize the skin; it has been known to heal and protect it. You should apply the Emu Oil each time you wash your skin and every night before you go to bed. It’s best to apply the oil while the skin is still damp, not wet, just slightly damp like right after drying it with a towel.

# 3 Home Remedies For Dry Skin - Mask

Once a week or so give yourself a nice mask facial for dry skin. This mask will also help tighten the skin – so consider using it before going out for big night. Your skin will look fabulous! Here is what you’ll need for the Dry Skin Mask:

  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • small bowl and a whisk or fork
  • wash cloth, face towel

Here is how to make it:

  • whisk the egg yolks while slowly adding the honey and continue to mix
  • smooth the mixtures all over the face and neck. Be sure to have a face towel handy incase it drips
  • Leave on for30 minutes. If possible, it is best to lie down and just rest for a while until it starts to dry. It makes it easier because the mixture will tend to drip a bit
  • Wash off using warm water and a wash cloth and apply a good water-proof moisturizer

# 4 Home Remedies For Dry Skin - Diet

Surprising, dry skin responds well to a healthful diet. When people look for a cure for dry skin, they hardly ever look at their diet. I won’t go into detail here because this is something we’ve all heard over and over again. But just remember if you are obsessed with low fat diets and you suffer from dry skin, consider getting more essential fats into your diet. These types of fats will not only help with dry skin, but for many people helps keep their weight in balance. Studies diet- plays a crucial role in a variety of skin disorders, such as eczema and psoriasis.

So, what’s should a Healthy Skin Diet consist of? Well, plenty of water for one thing. Then make sure your eating several servings of fruits, vegetables, and small amount of good fats such as olive oil, flax seeds, or avocados. Also, consider taking a good, quality fish oil supplement like the on I’ve outlined on the Vitamin and Diet section of this website. Fish oil can also help reduce weight, cholesterol, arthritic conditions and even improve mood for those suffering from depression.

#5 Home Remedies for Dry Skin -Dry Skin Lotion

Sometimes even the best home remedies for dry skin need a little help with a good dry skin lotion. The best lotion for dry skin is one that won’t rub or wipe off right after you apply it.

The quality of your dry skin lotion is important especially if your suffering from dry skin around the eyes or just dry skin on the face. Many dry skin products can cause the face to breakout or cause puffy bags under the eyes.

After many months of reviewing clinical research papers looking for the best dry skin lotion, I have found a excellent therapeutic moisturizer that is clinically tested and guaranteed to meet pharmaceutical standards. The product is called ZENMED Botanical Herbal Moistuirzer

This therapeutic lotion uses a patent nanosphere delivery system which is why it is so popular and works so well as it penetrated more deeply than other moisturizer that just sit on top of the skin.
