I've had Botox injections and found they can be very effective in treating wrinkles by relaxing muscles.

No down time, immediate results. I was very pleased with the outcome. The treatment was administered around my eyes & forehead and was pretty effective and lasted 6 months each of the 3 times I was treated.

I had a very deep vertical line between my eyes which was all but invisible with each treatment. I loved it!

Wrinkles did disappear, but there was bruising and swelling and sometimes mild headaches occurred for short period of time.

After a few days, and I noticed the inability to move the muscles and the wrinkles softened.

Thanks for sharing your experience with Botox injections. Some doctors recommend that you don't use aspirin or certain herbs/vitamins about 1 week prior to Botox injections to reduce the chances of bruising.

If you do have a headache after the injection, doctors recommend taking acetaminophen for headaches. However, most people find the headaches are not that bad - just inconvenient.

There is also some confusion whether Botox of Dysport is better. It really depends on the area to be injected. Many people find that Dysport seems to work better on smaller muscles - like around the eyes.

While Botox seems to work best on the larger muscles - like around the eyebrows/between the eyes.

But, discuss this with your doctor before deciding on which one to use.

I would urge anyone thinking of self administering Botox,not to do it! You should only use experts. Im a registered general nurse and therefore know the standards of care and attention that is necessary.

Thanks for your email regarding homemade Botox. And you're absolutely right, even though Botox may be a great option for reducing wrinkles for some people - you should never try to inject yourself with real Botox and risk problems and/or complications.

It should only be done by a professional licensed dermatologist or plastic surgeon.
