Simple Steps - How to Make Lip Gloss
Making your own gloss or lip balm at home is super easy and you can mix and match almost any ingredient you want as long as you understand how to make the based. Most glosses and balms have a common base which is either wax and petroleum jelly (like Vaseline).
How To Make the Base For Lip Gloss
Place 1 teaspoon of Vaseline or some type of petroleum jelly in a microwave safe bowl and heat in the microwave for just a few seconds – Do Not Overheat! How To Make the Base For Lip Balm Place 1 teaspoon of beeswax(if you're using pellets) or about a 1x1 inch cube (if you're using blocks) in a microwave safe bowl and heat in microwave. Again, keep an eye on it and don't overheat or burn it. Just a few seconds is all you'll need
Now The Fun Starts! Make Your Lip Gloss/Balm Flavors
This is where the fun part starts. Once you've heated your base (listed above) just add your favorite ingredients to color, flavor, or heal. Healing Macadamia Nut
If you're lips are extremely cracked, bleeding, or peeling, consider adding 1 teaspoon of macadamia nut oil. This oil is a strong hydrator and moisture attacking emollient.
This super rich oil prevents scaling and flaking and contains antioxidants to prevent aging and damage from the environment. Since macadamia nut oil is very emollient, I would make it into balm…the recipe for this is as follows:
Melt 1-2 teaspoon of beeswax in the microwave for a few seconds. Then add 1 or 2 teaspoons of macadamia nut oil and mix well. Pour into small contain and let cool until it firms.
You can substitute vitamin E oil which is also a potent antioxidant that helps encourage elasticity to cells which can support firmer a pucker. Help your lips get younger with continue use. Just puncture open 1-2 vitamin E oil gel caps.
Want something to make you feel more glamorous and sexy? Just substitute the beeswax with Vaseline for an eye popping shine.

SMOOTH TIP
Before applying lip gloss to thin or dry chapped lips, make sure to exfoliate! In order to get the best results you need to remove the dead flaky cells first. A simple way to do this is to use a toothbrush and lightly brush your lips.
This also stimulates blood flow which can help them appear fuller and pouter with more color and allows for better penetration of the soothing emollients.
Also, once a week or so make a scrub (you can use this on your face, neck, elbows and knees too) to exfoliate the dead cells and smooth out skin. To make this scrub just mix together: - 1 teaspoon of sugar (more if you're going to use this as a body scrub)
- 1 teaspoon of honey (1 tablespoon if using face or body)
- 1 teaspoon of olive oil or coconut oil (add more if you plan on using this on your body) . If you have oily skin, skip the oil if you're going to use the scrub on the face
Mix into a paste – adding more or less ingredients to your liking. Then gently massage this onto your lips and other dry flaky parts for a few minutes. Rinse well and moisturize or apply your lip gloss.
