How to Rid of Blackheads on Nose and Chin
I have these large blackheads on my chin and nose. The pore strips work a little, what else can i do to get rid of them?
Hello,
Thanks for your email regarding blackheads. Blackheads and clogged pores usually go hand in hand. A lot of people with oily skin get blackheads, but those with dry skin may have some too.
A blackhead is a hard sebum (oil) plug that clogs the pore. It usually starts out as a whitehead, but once exposed to the oxygen...it oxidizes and turns black. Sometimes the bacteria in this plug spreads and causes irritation and eventually a breakout or pimple.
Pore strips are helpful. The glue on the inside of the strip can help pull some of the plugged oil block out. Use it after you wash your face, but make sure your skin is dry first.
After applying the strip press well and make sure to leave it on until it's a bit stiff and dry...then pull off quickly. Don't use these every day, because it can irritate the skin.
Also, make sure you clean the skin well and don't use products that contain cheap oils or heavy waxes. A lot of moisturizers may contain some type of wax to help seal the moisture, but this can contribute to more clogged pores and breakouts.
You want to keep routine simple and clean....wash well (but don't strip your natural protective oils), exfoliate - especially in the areas where you have a lot of blackhead. A natural fruit acid can help dissolve the excess oil and polish the skin so it looks less dull and flaky.
And, use a wax free moisturizer to hydrate. Also, if your skin is on the oily side, then only apply the moisturizer on the dry sections. Click here
