Laser burns - how to get rid of them? Please help me!!

Hi I had laser skin resurfacing treatment for my crows feet area. This was about 2 weeks ago and now my skin is really red and scabby. The doctor gave me a real greasy/Vaseline type cream to use and told me it will go away and get better, but I'm scared it won't. What can do now? Please help, I'm desperate.!!
Thanks,
Alice
Hi Alice,
From what you described, this is just another step in your healing process. First the skin blisters up, then it slowly peels off as you wash it. Now, it's starting to grow new skin. It's scabbing up because you're letting it get too dry. It's really important to follow the doctor's recommendation and KEEP THE AREA MOIST. If not, it may not heal properly.
Here are a few suggestions:
The cream they gave you was to help moisturize and heal the skin so keep putting it on every so many hours to keep the skin covered.
Stay out of the sun. If you must go out in the sun for long periods, check with the doctor to see if you are can apply a sunscreen. Sometimes, on newly lasered skin, you should not apply anything but the cream they gave you…..so please check with the doctor first.
Don't pick at it or peel the scab or skin off. Leave it alone and it will heal just fine. It looks much worse than it is and you'll be really happy once it's all healed.
Once your new skin has formed ask your doctor if you can use Emu Oil. It's not as greasy as the cream you are using now and it will help the skin to heal cleanly and smoothly without scaring. Read more about it here: Emu Oil
Good luck, I hope this information has been helpful.
