Ocular Rosacea Symptoms
Many people who have rosacea of the skin are not aware that they can get rosacea in the eyes too. The symptoms include:- gritty or burning feeling in the eyes
- swollen and/or red bumps on the eyelids
- bloodshot eyes
- crusty discharge in the corners of the eyes
- pain or extreme sensitivity to light
Ocular Rosacea Treatment
It is important that you seek treatment from a qualified ophthalmologist who will most likely prescribe medication and special eye drops to increase tear production.
Often times people with this ocular disorder suffer from dry eye syndrome -- He may also recommend that you use a humidifier or prescribe silicone plugs to close the tear drainage ducts – especially if you live in a very dry climate.
Other treatments your doctor may suggest include: Keep eye lashes clean – - Wash the eyelashes with a warm, moist cloth to loosen scales and crusts that accumulate in the corners of the eyes and along the lash line. This is especially important to do in the morning.
Use Hot Compress - - Apply a warm/hot moist washcloth to each eyelid for at least 5 minutes while lying down. Not only is this helpful for an infection, it’s very soothing.
Remove eye makeup - - Remove all eye makeup before going to be. Consider using a gentle baby shampoo and scrub the lashes very gently.
Ocular Rosacea Prevention
A qualified ophthalmologist will determine the best treatment for your specific condition. However, remember that conventional treatment and medicines will only treat the symptoms – not the causes of rosacea.
Remember that over 50% of people who suffer from skin rosacea develop rosacea in the eyes. Plus, rosacea causes much damage to your skin, so you need to get under control quickly to protect the skin – eyes - from further damage.
Rosacea medicines like Erythomycine, Accutane, Metronidazole and others only provide help provide temporary reduction in the symptoms – but do not address the underlying causes of rosacea. In addition, long term use of these drugs often carries uncomfortable, and possibly dangerous, side effects….especially affecting the liver.
As a health advisor, I always believe it’s best to use alternative treatments – especially when there are some very safe and natural treatments available for rosacea.
Even if you’re taking rosacea medication, you can still use natural rosacea skin products because they are safe and provide long term rosacea relief.
One natural cure for rosacea that I’ve found to be extremely successful for many patients is the
rosacea skin support system
This is an incredible all natural two step approach for treating rosacea causes. It includes a topical cleanser/gel that is extremely effective in reducing blotchiness, redness, and flare-ups. And a detoxifying supplement to strengthen the immune system from the inside out where rosacea starts.
This complete rosacea support system helps to control those embarrassing symptoms and flare-ups before they damage your skin beyond repair.
I firmly believe that natural treatments are the best option for treating most conditions, especially rosacea. The last thing you want to do is treat it with harsh creams or medication that are toxic to the skin and liver.
