puffy eyes

by jenny
(jackson, MI)

I put a new eye cream on a couple nights ago and now my under eyes are puffy, itchy and they burn. what can i put on them to help my symptoms?

Hi Jenny,

That is very odd, because unlike face creams, eye creams are supposed to be lighter (less oil) so as not to cause puffy eyes and be more gentle so in case it seeps into the eye it's not supposed to irritate them. In your case, sounds like you had an allergic reaction to some ingredient in the cream.

Well, first of all stop using the cream for a while. Then, if you can try to apply soothing eye drops (like Visine) made for red itchy eyes. One that is made for allergies would work well.

Next, you can use cold cucumber slices, or cool tea bags and place them over your eyes - of course this works best if you can lie down for a while. Even just a cool wash cloth or ice pack would help relive the puffy eye problem.

Then, once your eyes are back to normal try the eye cream one more time, but don't put it too close to the eye lash line. And only apply a small amount at first. It could be that you are allergic to something in that product. If that's the case, I would try to return it and get my money back.

You never know how a product will react on anyone. Almay cosmetics are supposed to be 100% hypoallergenic, yet each time I use their eye liner, I get a really back eye infection. Yet, when I use a cheap Maybelline eye liner...I have no problem. So you just never know how someone will react to any product, no matter how good or pure it's supposed to be ........

P.S. If you eye's keep getting worse - please do see a doctor.

Thanks,

Under eye dark circles - Treating Dark Circles

by chris
(wales, uk)

Hi, is there any product that can help reduce visible blue veins under eyes due to thin skin, I have tried a few products such as hylexin without too much success.

Any help would be gratefully received.
thanks

Hello Chris,

Thanks for your question regarding how to treat dark circles. The reason why this is a difficult problem for many people to treat is because there are so many different reason for dark circles.

Leaking capillaries - which leaves a dark bluish circle around the eyes from the hemoglobin.

Puffy eyes - which looks like you have dark circles because of the shadow the puffiness casts around the under eye area.

Allergies and anemia - can also cause dark circles around the eyes. And finally, aging - which can cause dark circles due to thinning skin from loss of collagen.

There are a few things you can do. First make sure you're not anemic or suffer from allergies. A simple blood test from your doctor can determine if you are anemic.

You can try performing face exercises to help stimulate fluid drainage around the eyes. Plus, face exercises are a great way to help you look younger without surgery because it thickens the skin and builds up/tightens facial muscles. You'll find a couple facial exercise samples in the link above.

Finally, there is a product that I have found that sort of attacks the dark eye circle problem from a few different areas so it covers most of the reasons for dark circles. This is probably why it's been effective for so many people.

It contains a patented ingredient called Eyeliss which helps reduce puffiness all around the eye area up to 70% by reducing capillary permeability (blood leakage) which causes dark circles. And Eyeliss helps to increase lymphatic circulation and drainage too.

It also contains Haloxyl, not the same as Hylexin, that helps reduce inflammation and binds with the iron under the skin (binding up the blue/red color formation) which reduces that darkness under the skin.

It also contains a few more ingredients like unprogrammed stem cells to help improve the appearance of the thin skin around the eyes resulting in younger looking eyes. Plus, the extra boost in collagen helps to thicken aging thin skin.

If you go to their website here Eye Revolution Gel and look at the top left of the screen you'll find links for each of these ingredients and all the research papers on their benefits. It's is pretty impressive.

I hope this information was helpful....

Thanks,
Linda

Hereditary dark circles & deep sunken eyes - HELP!

by NJT
(Aus)

Hello! I'm only 27 but am seriously trying to find a solution to my deep set/dark circle combination. I look tired ALL of the time. It is difficult to cover with makeup because the skin under my eye is so thin and sensitive and if i press too hard or rub it in I look older, as they wrinkle!

The only time in all honesty I have had any kind of relief has been when I applied hemorrhoid cream with the active ingredient (which I cannot recall) which they have removed from these products. I would appreciate any advice in this area as I feel I need to act now.

How can I fill out this seemingly hollow area? I'm devastated that there is not procedure that can correct this as its the only thing that really affects my appearance and confidence. Thanks in advance for the help.

Hello,

I can understand your concern and frustration. I too cannot use makeup or concealers around my eye area also because it just seems to settle in the lines and make me look older.

The best thing for you to do is try facial exercises and concentrate on the eye area. There are eye exercises that can help reduce dark circles by stimulating circulation. There are also exercises that fill-in the hollows of the eyes.

I think you'll see some improvements in the eye area after a few months of doing these exercises. Plus, if you start now and keep them up -- you'll be able to avoid sagging skin, lines, and wrinkles that come with age.

You'll look years younger than your friends of the same age. And the best part, the look is very natural - not artificial like plastic surgery face lift!

Click here to view a video of Carolyn explaining how and why face exercises help and try some sample exercises. face exercises video. Keep in mind that she's over 64 years old in this video. Look how tight and lifted her skin looks!!

I hope this information helps. Please let me know how it goes if you do decide to try the exercises.

swollen baggy eyes

What can I do about puffy eyes? They're really bad in the morning.

Hi There,

Thanks for your email regarding puffy eyes. It's important to first determine what is causing it. If it's due to fatty tissue under the skin, the only real solution is cosmetic surgery.

There is a newer safer procedure is called: Transconjunctival Blepharoplasty.

Here the doctor does not cut the skin on the outside, but instead makes an incision on the inside part of the lower eyelid and uses laser to remove the excess fat.

This speeds up healing time is a matter of days and -- most important -- lower eyelid is not damaged and the eyelid shape is not changed.

Since your eyes are puffy more in the morning, it's probably from fluid build up.

So what can you do? Well you can try massaging the eye area in the morning can help reduce the fluid a bit. Do this when you apply your morning moisturizer.

And speaking of moisturizer, make sure you're not using one that contains a lot of oil around the eye area. There is a really good serum that I use that helps to decongest the eye area.

Here is what I tell people do - if they don't think its working......put the serum on one side of your face and wait about 15 minutes. Then look in the mirror to see the difference.

Tons of skin problems - sagging jowls, puffy eyes, skin spots, upper lip wrinkles.....please help!

I have a lot of skin problems - sagging jowls, puffy eyes, skin spots, upper lip wrinkles.....please help

Hello,

Thanks for your email. There are a few things you can try to help revive your skin by reducing wrinkles and lift up droopy jowls, chin, and eyes......

Facial exercises can slowly help tone up facial muscles and firm the skin. There are about 40 different exercises that - when done correctly - can help firm up the face from your forehead to neck.

If you click on the link below, you'll find a video with a few sample exercises. Try them out for a few weeks and see if you don't see a difference. I love the neck exercise and have seen a huge difference.

Large pores, age spots, and uneven skin tone can all benefit from using a good skin lightener and/or in combination with microdermabrasion.

There are several types of skin lightening products to consider (I can't suggestion just one, because everyone has different skin and there is no way for me to know which one will work for you.)

Retinols are great for reducing large pores and to help smooth out skin tone/spots. Retinols are similar to Retin-A (the prescription cream) but for most people Retinols won't cause the side effect of Retin-A.

The other skin lightener is called Skin Eraser. It works differently than Retinols, as it contains fruit acids that gently exfoliate the top layers of the skin.

Here are links to both of these products. However, keep in mind, than once you start using these, you must use a sunscreen. Otherwise your uneven skin tone will come back again.

Types of Retinols

Skin Eraser

I'm trying a new microdermabrasion machine. It's a smaller version of a professional microdermabrasion machine. Let me tell you something...this little machine is powerful!

I held it too long over a brown spot on my cheek - because I didn't think the machine was doing much - a few hours later, there was a red sore spot where I over did it!!

So, this machine works.

I'll be posting an article and pictures about it soon.

However, it is available for purchase at the link below. It may seem a little pricey - $179.00 - but you only pay that once and you can have a microdermabrasion facial (at home) for the rest of your life.

I've paid over $300.00 just for one professional microderm session!! So it's well worth the investment.

Here is the link:

Dimond Tip Microdermabrasion Machine

If you do try any of these suggestions, please let me know how you do.

Thanks,
Linda

Fluid Retention Puffy Eyes

Do you have any advice for Fluid Retention & Puffy Eyes? How can I fix bags under my eyes?

Hello,

Thanks for your email regarding fluid retention and puffy eyes. If you suffer from puffy eyes due to fluid retention alone, then just cutting back on salt and raising your pillow a little so your head is elevated can help. As can performing some simple Facial Eye Exercises to help reduce the fluid in that area.

On the other hand, if you think your puffy eyes are due to more than just fluid retention, click on the following link: How To Reduce Bags Under The Eyes for more information.

On this page you'll find information about a very recent discover for a puffy eye/dark circle eye cream that contains scientifically proven ingredients like: Sesaflash, stem cells, and Haloxyl to lighten the area and reduce puffiness.

It's a pretty impressive product and has received great reviews from my visitors as well as several national magazines such as Oprah, Reader's Digest, Woman's Day, Vogue, and many more.

Hope this information has helped,

Linda

Puffy Eyes and dark circles

Please help with puffy eyes and dark circles. I've tried everything!!

Hello,

Thanks for your email regarding puffy eyes and dark circles. First of all you need to determine if your puffy eyes are due to fluid build up or is there too much fatty tissue under the skin.

If's it's the latter - unfortunately, only cosmetic surgery to remove the fatty tissue will help reduce the puffiness. One of the newer, safer proceedures is called:

Transconjunctival Blepharoplasty. Instead of making an incision on the outside of the eyelid - which takes longer to heal....the surgeon make a tiny incision on the inside part of the lower eyelid and uses laser to remove the excess fat. By doing this and not cutting into the outside skin, there is no incision, healing time is a matter of days and -- most important -- lower eyelid is not damaged and the eyelid shape is not changed.

If your eyes are puffy when you first wake up and then go down as the day wears on....then it's a matter of excess fluid. This can also cause the look of dark circles too.

Massaging the eye area in the morning can help reduce the fluid a bit. And, since you have puffy eyes, you probably already know about the use of tea bags, cucumbers and reducing salt intake - to reduce some of the puffiness.

You can read more about that here

The other thing to try is a good serum to help fade the circles and decongest the whole eye area. I use Eye Revolution Gel when I'm really puffy from eating too much salt or staying up too late.

Sometimes, I only use the Lifting Serum to help lift up and tighten the skin. I really like these two products and have tried tons of them before.

Here is what I tell people do - if they don't think its working......put the Lifting serum on one side of your face (or the Eye Revolution on one eye) and wait about 15 minutes. Then look in the mirror and see the difference.

If you're interested in reading more about these two products click here:
Puffy Eye / Dark Circle Eye Lift Serum.

The Lifting Serum can be used on the face - like around the labial nasal folds and on the neck. It lasts for about 8 hours and is not sticky like all of the others (I've tried a ton of them!). If fact, what I really like about it is that it also hydrates the skin...so it looks better.

I hope this helped,

Linda

dark circles

by jasodra
(trinidad)

Good Day,
I have a problem for years now. I have these dark circles around my eyes. Up till this date its still there. How do i get raid of them?

I am now 25yrs and i had them since i was about 14yrs. if you do have a solution can u email it to me at jasodrasingh1@yahoo.com

Thank you
Jasodra

Hello Jasodra,

Thanks for your email regarding dark circles. There can be a few reasons for dark circles around the eyes and many of them having nothing to do with aging.

The eye area has very thin skin and underneath there are many small blood vessels. Sometimes these tiny vessels leak and the broken down hemoglobin leaves a dark bluish color that shows through the thin skin.

Another reason for dark circles could be due to allergies, medications, medical conditions like anemia, or even fat pads under the eyes which cast a shadow and give illusion of dark circles.

One thing you can try -- that has helped many people -- is increase circulation in that area, thus flushing excess fluids giving the eye area a more tighter, smoother look. out

Facial exercises that concentrate on the eye area can help reduce dark circles, puffy eyes, fine lines around the crow's feet area, and fill-in the hollows of the eyes. .....which also gives the appearance of dark circles.

I think you'll see some improvements in the eye area after a few months of doing these exercises. Plus, if you start now and keep them up -- you'll be able to avoid sagging skin, lines, and wrinkles that come with age.

I hope this information helps.
