Treating oily skin and preventing excess oil from being released is the best way to prevent blackheads, reduce large pores and prevent acne on the face, back, and chest.
In normal healthy skin the sebaceous glands are attached to the hair follicles.
When these glands secrete sebum oil it travels up the follicle and spread out onto the skin, keeping it moist and healthy.
However, in the case of those with oily skin, the hair follicle is blocked -- so the oil can’t get out and this usually leads to blackheads form due to the oxidized oil.
And, the excess bacteria on the skin -- called Propionibacterium acnes -- can cause more trapped oil resulting inflammation and acne.
Many people rely on lotions, toners, and cleansers to remove excess oil, but by that time it’s too late and these harsh products serve to dry out the skin – causing more oil to be produced.
Having excessive oily skin is not normal and most people don’t know how to treat oily skin properly.
The skin is the largest organ on the body and is important to maintain your skins health properly. Instead of trying to get rid of oily by drying it out using harsh chemicals and cleansers, consider effective skin strategies that actually works in preventing oily skin.
Avoid Excessive Sun – We all know that too much sun causes wrinkles, skin aging, and increase chances of skin cancer. However, whether it’s outside UV rays or from a tanning bed – too much UV exposure also causes enlarged pores and broken capillaries.
Hot Water - You should never wash your face with hot tap water. The combination of how water and the chlorine found in tap water can damage the skin. The hotter the water, the higher rate of chemical reactions from the chlorine -- which is an oxidative agent used to kill bacteria. This combination may cause more skin damage than most people realize.
Harsh Cleansers - Many cleansers are really ionic detergents and can dry out and damage the skin. Believe it or not, many over the counter skin care products and hair care products contain ionic detergents like lauryl sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate. These are powerful detergents and are often times used in clinical studies and experiments to measure skin damage. Even if you have oily skin, it is best to use moisturizing gentle pH balanced soaps and shampoos.
Another common practice for people who wish to get rid of oily skin is to over use alcohol based toners and cleansers. Excessive use of alcohol based toners and solutions can strip protective sebum and lead to skin sensitivity and excess oily production.
Eliminate Oil Based Products - Many moisturizers and foundations contain oil which aggravates the skin and clogs pores. Look for oil free makeup or consider using powdered based mineral makeup. Also, just because you have oily skin doesn't mean you don't need a good moisturizer.... You still need to keep your skin hydrated without irritating it.
The best way to prevent oily skin is to stop the over production of oil. Until now most people relied on toxic drugs like accutane. However, after years of research as a health advisor I have found an ultra pure facial cleanser that reduces excess oil to unclog pores and reduce the chance of developing blackheads. But, it also helps to nourish the skin and is great for sensitive acne prone skin too. Click here to read more about this
ZenMed's Organic/Herbal Facial Cleanser
As a health advisor I always advocate natural products whenever possible. That's why I love this product for treating oily skin -- because it contains certified organic aloe vera, cucumber extract, (to lighten red marks and skin spots), sage, and vitamins A,D3, and E. And it comes with a 60 day money back guarantee.
Also, consider using a oil controlling moisturizer. This very unusual moisturizer sebum controlling moisturizer hydrates the skin without excess oil. After using this moisturizer regularly, you're skin will become less flaky, less greasy, and softer.
