How Long Do Moisturizers Last?

I was wondering how long a moisturizer will last. I bought anew age repair day cream from Avon about a year and a half ago. I did use it, but when I got married in (09) I packed it up among many other things. I just found it and would like to continue to use it but afraid to. Is it still good, or should I just throw it away? Thank You so much for your answer. Dorothy

Hi Dorothy,

Any skin product that contains active ingredients like vitamin C or alpha hydroxy, will lose it's potency after a certain time, especially once it's been opened and exposed to the air.

So while your moisturizer probably won't hurt your skin -- it probably isn't as potent as it was when you first purchased it.

What I do with left over moisturizers is use it on my hands, legs, feet, and other body parts instead of wasting it and throwing it out.

I experiment a lot with facial skin products and usually have a ton of left over moisturizers that I didn't particularly like for my face....so I try to recoup my costs by using it my body.

I keep some by my bedside and smaller ones in my purse during the winter to keep my hands moist.

Hi,

I have very dry skin, especially on my face. With fall and winter coming I'm dreading how my skin is going to look. I can't find a good moisturizer for my face that lasts and isn't greasy or shiny.
