Best Anti Wrinkle Cream
Retinols For Photoaged Skin

What’s the best anti wrinkle cream for removing wrinkles and dark spots from sun damaged skin? Retin A. Whether you use Retin A cream or Retin A Micro Gel.....both are effective for anti-aging.

However - if your skin is very damaged consider microdermabrasion treatments first to help to remove the tough damaged outer layer of the dermis. Home microdermabrasion kits are now available for a fraction of professional treatments. Watch the video below or click here microdermabrasion kits.

Please Note: If using prescription Retin-A, please speak with your doctor before getting microdermabrasion treatments.

Retin-A as a Wrinkle Removing Cream

Retin-A (Trentinoin)is a prescription cream that should only be used under the guidance of a physician. It is used to treat not only wrinkles, but acne too. Retin-A is an acidic form of Vitamin A (Retinoid) and is usually sold under the brand name Renova, Retin-A, Atralin, and Avita....to name a few.

It is the stronger, chemical cousin to Retinol Complex. But both have clinical evidence that they can help reverse the signs of skin aging caused by excessive sun damage. Click here to see all the different types of retinol serum and creams.

Very simply – Retin A is prescription cream that works at the cellular level helps to increases cell turnover (exfoliation) and remove dead cells and discoloration giving the complexion a brighter, smoother look. This is the best anti wrinkle cream for rough, blotchy, sun damaged skin.

It also stimulates collagen production and blood flow to the skin -- building newer healthier cells and giving the skin a rosy glow.

While this may sound like a dream come true, but all good news has it’s bad side. The bad side to using Retin A, is that it can cause many side effects and you must change some life style habits….like:

  • No sun tanning of any kind - even suntan booths are out
  • No harsh facial cleansers or exfoliating scrubs
  • No alcohol based toners or serums
  • Use a super hydrating antiaging moisturizer to prevent excess drying and flaking skin - a common side effect to Retin-A
  • No microdermabrasion facials

Retin A will cause redness, peeling, flaky skin and irritation – especially in the first few months. And, once your skin has adjusted or once you discontinue using it, you must be very careful of the sun because your skin will be extra sensitive to sun damage.

Using chemical free sunscreen or an organic sunscreen are a must during and after treatment.

The other downside is excessive thinning of the skin – so it can’t be used forever. You see because it sloughs and peels off the top layers, the skin gets thinner over time.

Now, there is some debate over whether this is good or bad. Because some doctors claim that yes while the upper skin layers thin out…..the inner layers get thicker and those inner layers start to swell upward and get stretched…...........this is what gives the skin that smooth, wrinkle free appearance.

Best Anti Wrinkle Cream - How to use Retin A

For best results, you need to understand the proper way how to use Retin A for best results and to minimize those nasty side effects.

Can’t tolerate Retin A for wrinkles? Try Retinols creams instead. Those with sensitive skin find that Retinol is the best anti wrinkle cream for reducing sun damage.

Staff members at the Mayo Clinic feel that retinol products can produce results just as good as Retin A, but at a slower and without irritation or the need for a prescription.
