Eczema Skin Symptoms

Eczema skin symptoms almost always start with an irritating itch -- long before a rash appears.

Typical eczema skin symptoms include itching, dryness, flaking, and discoloration and swelling of the skin.

Eczema symptom usually appears as patches of thickened skin on the face, neck, hands, and legs.

Children usually develop these itchy, dry, patches on the elbows, scalp, and in the creases of the knees and arms................................

Eventually, these patches turn into crusty sores due to excessive scratching.

Preventing the itch and the scratching goes a long way in reducing many of the uncomfortable eczema skin symptoms by preventing it from drying out and using only natural and gentle

Severe Eczema Symptoms

Those with more serious symptoms of eczema may find that they develop pus filled blisters or a brownish yellow crust on top of the eczema rash.

This could be an indication of a bacterial infection and should be looked at by a physician who will most likely prescribe antibiotics.

And, in the worst cases of eczema symptoms a person may develop a number of small blisters filled with fluid on and around the eczema rash area.

This could be a case of eczema herpeticum which is a serious and rare complication of eczema caused by a herpes simplex virus.

Reducing Eczema Skin Symptoms

While the symptoms of eczema are easily described and understood treating eczema is still a mystery, despite the fact that it affects over 15% of the world’s population.

In fact, the causes of eczema are still unknown – which makes finding a treatment almost impossible.

Doctors may prescribe drugs to prevent flare-ups and inflammation as well as suggest some natural home remedies for eczema symptoms and flare-up.

Doctors are not sure of the exact causes of eczema but they do believe that flare-ups may be connected to an overactive immune system -- often triggered by environmental or emotional causes.

Common causes of flare-ups include:

  • chemical irritants such as harsh soaps and detergents, perfume, astringents, and pesticides
  • physical irritants like fabrics that are scratchy like wool
  • changes in humidity or temperature
  • infections

Keep in mind these of causes may vary from person to person. While the symptoms of eczema can be uncomfortable, unsightly, distracting, and embarrassing.

It is important to see your doctor if your symptoms are severe - to develop a plan of action to reduce flare-ups and breakouts.

Also, consider trying homemade, natural remedies which can be quite effective. The major factor is reducing the itch and inflammation which often lead to more complicated symptoms.

Home Remedies For Eczema Symptoms

At this time there are no known cures for the eczema, but there several home remedies for eczema symptoms.

One treatment includes making a paste using:

  • 1 tsp of camphor oil
  • 1 tsp of sandalwood oil
  • apply the paste to the affected areas

Camphor oil and sandalwood oil can be found in most health food stores. Or for severe itching, consider applying a mask made of mashed papaya seeds.

However, I found a much easier, and very soothing and moist dermatitis treatment that will help reduce your itchy, inflamed, red, dry or flaky condition.

And a little bit goes a long way in providing safe and effective relief quickly!
