Homemade facial cleanses/masks - What to do for ther crepey skin that has suddnely appeared EVERYWHERE

(Nebraska)

Suddenly I've become an old woman--can I do anything???? Just read someplace on line to mix a cup of pineapple (apparently caned is ok, if you rinse off and 3-4 tbs of olive oil and smear on for 20 minutes--suggests before a shower--ha-ha and 4-5 weeks is supposed to show improvement.

Hello,

Thanks for your email regarding crepey skin and pineapple. Yes, pineapple has some wonderful properties for the skin. First of all it's a natural alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) so it helps exfoliate dead skin cells.

The AHA helps sort of "unglue" the cells so they are exfoliated easier. AHA's also help to improve skin elasticity and hydration.

Pineapple also contains the enzyme bromelain which helps reduce inflammation. However, I would be careful when applying a pineapple mask around the eyes and any other sensitive skin areas until you know how your skin will react......test in a small area first.

Also, I would try to use fresh pineapple when possible. There are hundred ways to use pineapple mask. Mixing it with olive oil is my favorite. But the uses for skin rejuvenation are endless.

You can also use pineapple as a cleanser, if your sensitive to the chemicals used in most cleansers today.

Good luck, I hope this information helps.
