Skin Tightening with MSM?

Hi Linda,

I've read that MSM combined with Vitamin C (Camu Camu Powder) helps to tighten the skin? I'd like your opinion about this. Also, which brand of MSM would you recommend?

Thanks for your question regarding MSM and skin tightening. MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) is a sulfur compound is known to support healthy skin, hair, nails and even joints.

Some says MSM is added to skin care products because it can help enhance absorption of the active nutrients. So I would imagine that mixing it with your vitamin C may help increase vitamin C absorption.

A study from the

University of Maryland Medical Center found that MSM can help form connective tissues within the skin.

As far as skin tightening, I wouldn't expect a dramatic lift - like one would get from a face lift. However, it certainly can't hurt. Since MSM makes the skin more permeable, it can help increase absorption and help hydrate the skin, thus plumping it up making it look fuller and firmer.

I'm not familiar with any particular brand of MSM, but if you plan on purchasing a skin cream that contains MSM, just make sure methylsulfonylmethane is not listed towards the bottom of the ingredient list. Because that means the product contains very little MSM. The higher at the top of the ingredient list, the more MSM the product contains.
